When you rent a car, you have the flexibility to go wherever you want, whenever you want. Some people think this is the best way to travel. They enjoy the freedom that comes with a car and the challenge of driving in uncharted areas. For those who are looking for an adventure, it can be a lot of fun. There are, however, some complexities to consider before making this decision. Rules vary from place to country and understanding these nuances sometimes necessitates familiarity with the local culture. Each jurisdiction’s police force operates somewhat differently, and officers’ expectations of how they should be handled by motorists vary accordingly. There are unsaid norms that are common knowledge among residents but not outsiders. However, being a victim of a con is also simple when taking advantage of this form of transportation. Companies frequently find loopholes, such as claiming you surpassed your mileage limit (which negates the “freedom” part) or laying the blame for preexisting damage on you. Additionally, it is challenging to read road signs in a foreign language. Not to mention the fact that many countries require drivers to operate their vehicles on the opposite side of the road. This is a lot to take on.
Fortunately, this is not a problem when doing a tour with a group. When you hire them, they’ll send a driver to take you where you need to go. When you use a dependable firm, you may be assured that you’ll arrive at your destination in one piece. When in a community, though, individual autonomy disappears. You have no control over the schedule and can’t be as flexible or spontaneous as you’d want. You sit on the bus and look out the window as it speeds through breathtaking scenery, but you have no time to stop and take any pictures (just as you would when on a bus or from the train). It can be very inconvenient to have to wait until the predetermined rest stops are reached in order to attend to personal necessities like eating or using the restroom. Once again, you’ll just have to deal with the disappointment of losing out on a potentially exciting side street, town, or building. Some people have no problem with this, preferring to just go along with the group rather than explore on their own. This is the equivalent of torture for those like myself!
A private driver-guide is my preferred mode of transportation when I travel, and here is why: This means of transportation offers the independence of a rental car without the associated legal liabilities. To top it all off, you won’t have to worry about following the rules outlined in a group trip to make it to your final destination. In my opinion, it’s the ideal mode of transportation for vacationing. The only negative aspect is the rather high cost. Even though the added cost is offset by the benefits, it is still a wise investment. Here’s a more in-depth look at some of the best benefits of hiring a private driver-guide.
